In the beginning...

The idea of creating and continuing a regular one sided communication is exciting and scary at the same time. It's exciting as I learn something new, it seems by the minute in my search for understanding of the complexities of communicating in a social media construct. I'm a child of the 60's, a rebel of the 70's, a conformist of the 80's, an explorer of the 90's and for the past 13 years I've been immersed in the challenging, thoroughly encompassing world of adult education. Adults love to learn. They soak up new information at every opportunity and their experiences lead them to continually question and search for more understanding and knowledge. Being involved in this atmosphere has offered me an almost infinite number of connections with fascinating people that I've learned as much from as hopefully I've been able to share.

So, the task I've set myself is to become integrated into this connected society in a way that allows me to continue learning from others and hopefully become a facilitator in sharing the knowledge of others. My fear is that I will be unable to maintain a regular post and is intermittent better than never. While my ideal is the best I'm able to achieve, my reality is that what I can do today is the best but if I wait for better, I'll become mired in procrastination and do nothing. In my mind it is better to take baby steps forward, stumble, recover, wait for guidance, insight, direction and then proceed with growing confidence based on a backward glance at how far I've come and looking ahead at how much I can achieve with determination and persistence.

My intention is to share my personal growth and development through my experiences in navigating the ever changing social media landscape. My hope is that I'm not writing to myself - although reflection can be a powerful tool for personal insight. If anyone cares to read, please share your comments.
